The Uriach Foundation’s "History of Medicine" Prize was launched in 1970 with the aim of promoting research into the history of health sciences. This international prize is awarded annually to the best work that, in the opinion of a jury appointed for this purpose, discusses a topic related to the history of the health sciences.

The prize is directed not only to professionals, researchers and students in the field of health sciences but also to history aficionados interested in exploring the origins and development of disciplines such as medicine, pharmacy , veterinary, chemistry, and botany.

Work submitted for this prize must be original and unpublished. Any work that, at the time of the prize, has already been published in whole or in part or has also been submitted to another competition will be disqualified.
