New acquisition by FU1838 library

The Uriach Foundation Library has recently acquired a new work:
 
“Copiosa relación de lo sucedido en el tiempo que duró la epidemia en la grande y augustissima ciudad de Sevilla, año de 1649 / escrita por un religioso a su Reverendísimo Padre General ; sácala a la luz Pedro López de San Román Ladrón de Guevara... Print in Ezija: por Juan Malpartida de las Alas, 1649.”
 
This work, written by the Reverend Pedro López de San Román, explains the plague epidemic of Seville in 1649, in which more than 60,000 people died, representing 46% of the total population of the city.
 
The publication narrates, the weather conditions before the epidemic, the supposed origin and motive of the plague as well as the heartbreaking portrait of the sick and dead that gathered in every corner of the city.
