Since 2011, every July 24th marks International Self-Care Day, a date promoted by the International Self-Care Foundation to remind us that well-being begins with the choices we make every day.
dedicated to the history of health sciences and natural health, we know that self-care is not a recent trend. Throughout the centuries, different cultures have valued balanced nutrition, rest, physical activity, contact with nature, and the use of medicinal plants as pillars for preserving health. From the thermal baths of the classical world to the hygienist recommendations of the 19th century, history shows us that caring for oneself has always been both an individual and a collective responsibility.
Today, more than ever, promoting self-care means fostering prevention, active listening to the body, and emotional health. It also means recovering natural, sustainable, and environmentally respectful practices as tools for physical and mental balance.
On this International Self-Care Day, we encourage you to:
✔ Prioritize rest and movement
✔ Connect consciously with your nutrition
✔ Find moments of calm and silence
✔ Make use of natural resources to improve your well-being
Because health doesn’t begin in a doctor’s office, but in the way we live each day.
