The exhibition “Trementinaires: Between Mountains and Remedies” is being held in several libraries of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and sheds light on the figure of the trementinaires. These were brave and enterprising women who, between the mid-19th and early 20th centuries, dedicated themselves to distributing natural remedies throughout Catalonia in order to support their families.
Complementing the exhibition, two related activities are taking place in November 2024:
11/11/24: Guided tour of the exhibition “History of the Trementinaires, the Healing Women of Catalonia.” Led by the Environmental Education Association Edulis, with the collaboration of: UPC Baix Llobregat Campus Library, Uriach Foundation, Ramon Fernandez Jurado Public Library, and UPCArts.
14/11/24: Workshop on creams and ointments made with herbs (the modern trementinaire). Led by Olga Gener, from EEABB.
